Level Up for Mental Health: My 24-Hour Gaming Marathon for Samaritans
Tuesday 30th Jun
The Mission
On Friday, 24 July, I am transforming my usual gaming sessions into something much bigger. It is Samaritans Awareness Day, a day dedicated to highlighting the round-the-clock emotional support provided by the charity. They are a true lifeline, offering emotional support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to anyone in distress, struggling to cope, or feeling suicidal. To support their mission, I am taking on the 24-Hour Gamers for Samaritans Challenge as BadAtGamingGuy.
Why This Matters
Mental health is something that matters deeply to me, and the statistics are staggering. Every 10 seconds, Samaritans answer a call for help. By participating in this 24-hour gaming marathon, my goal is to raise vital funds and awareness to ensure fewer people die by suicide. Every hour I stream helps power their helpline. This ensures that no one has to face their darkest moments alone.
The 24-Hour Game Plan
So, how do I plan to survive 24 hours of non-stop gaming here in Belfast? It is going to take a lot of coffee, a solid strategy, and probably some help from my squad.
The Roster: I will be burning rubber in Forza Horizon 6, testing ability to survive as we are dropping into Fortnite.
The Wildcard: My cat, Luna, will undoubtedly make a guest appearance, likely trying to walk across the keyboard at the worst possible moment.
How You Can Help
You don't need to stay up for 24 hours to make a difference. The best way to support this challenge is by making a donation to my fundraising page.
Every penny raised helps support the Branch Development Fund.
This fund ensures local Samaritans branches across Ireland and Northern Ireland can be there for our communities.
You can securely donate to my official page here: https://fundraise.samaritans.ie/fundraisers/jasonbrown.
Even if you cannot donate, spreading the word helps immensely.
You can share the link on your social media, WhatsApp groups, or with colleagues at work.
Let's prevent suicide today, because tomorrow is too late. Join the stream, say hello in the chat, and let's level up for mental health together.
