When you fundraise for Samaritans, you help us be there for those who need us most.
July 2026
Samaritans Awareness Day 2026
This July, take on a 24/7 challenge and help us be there for people when they need us most.
Choose your challenge, set your goal and fundraise for Samaritans. From 24 sea dips to 24 hours of gaming, crafting, walking or swimming, the challenge is yours to make your own.
Together, we can raise awareness, support wellbeing and help ensure fewer lives are lost to suicide.
Your Impact
Why we need your help
Every day, someone in Ireland takes their own life. In the next hour, we'll respond to 60 calls for help.
Our volunteers in Ireland & Northern Ireland answered more than 570,000 calls for help last year.
Samaritans is the only charity in both Ireland & Northern Ireland offering emotional support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to anyone who is in distress, lonely, struggling to cope or feeling suicidal.
"Samaritans have saved my life on a few occasions when things were hard. Whenever all hope felt lost, they were my go-to phone call, just to get everything out, to unload my feelings. Whether I needed to cry or someone to talk to, they were always so gentle and caring."
- Nathan
"Samaritans listened and supported me without judging or telling me what to do. Having someone to speak to when I had suicidal thoughts helped me untangle my feelings and think more clearly."
- Nicola

FAQs
Why should I support Samaritans?
Samaritans is the only charity in both Ireland & Northern Ireland offering emotional support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to anyone who is in distress, lonely, struggling to cope, or feeling suicidal.
By fundraising for Samaritans, you can make sure we're always here for people in their darkest hours.
Why does Samaritans need to fundraise and how will my donation be used?
Gifts to Samaritans will not only help us to answer as many calls as possible, but it will also help us develop new ways of making sure our service is available to those who need it. We’ll be able to keep up with evolving communications, making sure that whenever and however someone makes a call for help, we’ll be ready to answer.
Samaritans are supported by around 2,000 incredible volunteers across Ireland & Northern Ireland, but it is not just our listening service that helps us achieve our vision of fewer people dying by suicide. We also provide workplace training to help people take better care of their mental health at work, and campaign for more investment in national and local suicide prevention.
Funds raised support our Branch Development Fund, helping local Samaritans branches be there for your community. This fund helps local branches cover costs of technology, upgrades and much more.
