Support my 24-Hour Craft Challenge for Samaritans!

I’m taking on the 24-Hour Craft Challenge to support Samaritans, a charity that provides a lifeline 24/7 to anyone struggling in their darkest moments.

This cause matters deeply to me – every person is precious, and no one should have to face their pain alone.

I will be knitting & crocheting a baby set with a hat, booties, a cardigan & a blanket - along with crocheting 7 hope squares with messages to spread hope and awareness.


Through my craft, I want to remind others that they are loved, valued, and made for a purpose.


All funds raised here will go directly to Samaritans' lifesaving work in Ireland & Northern Ireland, and their mission of fewer lives lost to taking their own lives.

12 hours into the challenge

Wednesday 29th Jul
I'm halfway done with this challenge, I finished the entire baby set and packed it up in case someone wants to order it from my business (called Smitten Knitten by Saoirse). Now I've moved on to making hope squares with flowers on them for the remaining time of this challenge. Stay tuned for another update!

Hey everyone, first of all, I'm aware that the Samaritans awareness day was on Friday, but I have been busy with the web development for my business, but I will do as much as I can to finish this challenge by the end of July.

4 hours into the 24 hour challenge

4 hours in, and the body of the cardigan is already done, I just need to make two sleeves, and I hope it'll be done before the 8 hour mark.

Monday 20th Jul
Hi everyone! Today I will be starting the 24 hour craft challenge! I will be starting off with making a baby's cardigan newborn size with putting the buttons on the male's side (left side). I will be using my stopwatch. Will update you on the progress.

This morning I received my T shirt along with my 24 hour challenge planner & pen. I also got the the package of yarn from Temu that I need for this challenge coming later this month. More updates soon ❤️

Ordered Yarn for the challenge

Hi everyone!

I have ordered some yarn from Temu and right now they're on the way on An Post.

I'm going for green for the baby set to match the colours for Samaritans logo. For the hope squares I'll be using various colours with some green in the background. I don't know how big the squares will be but I hope they'll be big enough for me to embroider a message on, I aim to make 7 hope squares to symbolize 7 days a week for this service!

I will be starting this challenge around the week of 24th July 2026 and hopefully finish by then, I'll keep ye updated with some photos as well ❤️
