The 24-Hour Challenge

Support my 24-Hour Challenge for Samaritans!

I'm taking on a 24-hour challenge to support Samaritans' lifesaving work in Ireland & Northern Ireland, and their mission of fewer lives lost to suicide.

All funds raised here will support Samaritans' branches across the island of Ireland to help them be there for everyone who needs them, 24/7.

I hope you can help me by donating whatever you can. All donations are processed securely.

Thank you for supporting me and supporting Samaritans.

Friday 18th Jul

A sincere thank you to all of my supporters, every little bit helps!

I'm excited to say that I have created 3 pairs of socks! A size 8 in blue, a size 7 in red and a size 3.5 in grey.

As a thank you for the support I received, I am sending the socks to my supporters!

On the 24th of July I will add all names entered into a box and pull a lucky winner for each size.

Watch this space to find out who the winners are!

Across the finish line!

Sunday 13th Jul
Today I completed the 24 hour craft challenge and managed to knit a total of 5 1/2 socks!

I have added another couple of hours to finish the last sock and to tidy up all loose ends.

What I learnt is that knitting takes time, a pair of socks cannot be done in a few hours only. If you ever see hand made socks on a craft market somewhere, please don't expect them to be sold for next to nothing- A LOT of work went into them!

... and then there were two (pairs of socks)

Saturday 12th Jul
Today I got the next section of my 24 hour challenge done.
The heat out there is not easy to knit in- my fingers are sweaty and the yarn feels sticky.

At last I had the second pair of socks done!

And so it began...

Friday 11th Jul
Today was the day for me to get up early ad start listening to Terry Pratchett's 'The Truth'. It was time to get out the needles and cast on my first sock!

I did take a brief moment every hour to take a picture of my progress and made also sure to have a proper break for lunch and to drink enough.

Have a look at my progress so far below!

Slight change of plan- I will tart tomorrow!

Thursday 10th Jul
So, going on leave next week did not work out because, well, work.

But I am off tomorrow and then there is an amazing weekend with lots of sun ahead of us (I hope). That means I will move the 24 hour challenge to take part over 3 days only!

Wish me luck!

Preparations are under way :D

Sunday 6th Jul
So, I have the yarn, I made up my mind to knit socks, I have enough audio-books to last the first 20 hours and am now looking for another book for the last 4 hours...
I hope to be able to split the work into either 5x 5 hour days to make sure I keep my wrists safe. Wish me luck!

Thank you to my Sponsors
