Help me reach my goal of €750

Building Cities and Binging Swifties

Bobby and Ruth are fundraising for the Samaritans, a charity that offers a lifeline to people in crisis, 24/7.

During this marathon, Bobby will be creating a digital version of Waterford City, while Ruth will be subjecting herself to listening to 24 straight hours of Taylor Swift.

All funds raised here will support Samaritans' lifesaving work in Ireland & Northern Ireland, and their mission of fewer lives lost to suicide.

Thanks so much again to everyone for helping to smash our first goal! If anyone reads this first thing in the morning, a last minute donation would always be appreciated, as every little helps to go towards this fantastic cause.

We have terrain! I combined some public LIDAR data with a bunch of Shuttle topography to get the landscape around Waterford. I've paused the webcam on the Youtube stream but I'm still here if anyone wants to pop by and chat. I'm focusing on the last few tasks to start bringing the whole look together. I spent a lot of time getting set up for the snowball so here's hoping that I can get everything I wanted done by morning!

We've crushed our goal of €500 thanks to the amazing donations of every kind soul who you can see listed below. Thanks to everyone for donating to such a wonderful cause, and our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone!

By way of update, Ruth has officially finished her first album runthrough and is starting to replay what she's already heard. If the madness stays at bay she may delve into concerts and single performances to stave off the repeswifttion.

Bobby is deep in the weeds of building customization and making triangles and rooves. Stream continues at 7:30pm!

At it for just about 3 hours now. We've managed to get the viking triangle into the game engine as a simple outline. Next step is procedural mesh generation!

Hi all ! 

Ruth here. We decided to use the same website link for both the fundraising events to save time and to combine both our friends/family/the public's donations to a single account with The Samaritans as it's all going to this amazing cause. 

Bobby will be creating an digital version of Waterford and will be aiming to stream for 24 hours straight. Livestream will be on YouTube from 9am on the 24th and a link will be posted here before he starts.

Ruth will be listening to Taylor Swift for 24 hours starting at 9am on the 24th and is going to attempt check in videos and posts every 3 hours or so to mark progress and the slow decent into madness.

The Samaritans are holding a 24-Hour Challenge this July to raise awareness and funds for their services. Participants can choose a 24-hour activity, like listening to music or giving something up, and ask for donations to support the charity. The event coincides with Samaritans Awareness Day on July 24th, but participants can choose any date in July.
